Description:
Shrub to 3m, on the edge of rainforests and moister open forests. Leaves opposite, to 10cm x 3mm, glabrous above, sometimes hairy below. White 5mm flowers in terminal clusters, spring and summer. Yellow or white fruit to 7mm.
Special Features:
Excellent for creating, dense, compact screens or hedging.
Slow-growing, making it ideal for pots.
The berries provide food for birds, while the flowers attract butterflies and native bees.
The berries are edible and have a "surprisingly sweet, apple-like flavour".
