A tall, straight, and stately tree with rough, fibrous bark and dense, glossy dark green foliage.

Produces clusters of small creamy-white flowers in summer that attract bees and other pollinators.

The timber is extremely durable, making it a valuable species for habitat restoration and native plantings.
