At Coolum Community Native Nursery, we’re passionate about helping our community grow gardens that not only look beautiful — but belong. Every plant we grow, and sell is chosen for its local provenance, meaning it comes from the Sunshine Coast region and is perfectly adapted to our unique climate and soils.

The power of local natives

When you plant local natives, you’re doing more than just gardening — you’re helping to:

  • Support local wildlife – providing food and shelter for birds, butterflies, bees and small mammals.

  • Save water and time – native plants thrive with minimal care once established.

  • Restore balance – each plant contributes to rebuilding the natural ecosystems that make our region so special.

Powered by volunteers

Our dedicated team of volunteers works hard to grow a wide range of plants — from colourful groundcovers and hardy grasses to striking shrubs and tall trees.

From seed collecting, to propagating, potting up, weeding, watering and cleaning pots our volunteers dedicate their time to look after the plants at the nursery.

Whether you’re looking to add habitat to your backyard, stabilise a slope, or start a native garden from scratch, we can help you find the right plants for your space.

If you haven’t visited us recently, now’s a great time to drop by! You’ll find the nursery full of healthy stock and plenty of flowering natives that attract pollinators.

Our volunteers are always happy to share advice on planting, propagation, and care.
